AUGUSTA, Ga. - LSU sophomore Brad Wing has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award, which is presented annually to the top punter in college football, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Friday.

The 10 semifinalists were chosen from a field of 69 candidates for the award. Wing is one of three Southeastern Conference punters up for the honor, joining Florida's Kyle Cristy and Auburn's Steven Clark.

Wing, a 2011 first-team All-American, has averaged 44.5 yards per punt this season with 15 punts over 50 yards. Wing has placed 15 punts inside the 20-yard line. He had an outstanding game against Alabama, averaging 49.0 yards on four punts with two inside the 20 and one for 64 yards.

For his career, Wing is the LSU career record holder in punting average with 44.4 yards per punt. He has placed 42 of his 104 career punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

The candidates were evaluated on their overall statistics and contribution to the team. Particular emphasis was placed on the punter's net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.

A national voting body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) coaches, sports information directors, national media and former Ray Guy Award winners will decide the three award finalists, who will be announced on November 19.  Voters will then cast a second round of ballots to decide the winner. The winner will be announced at the ESPN College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 6 at Walt Disney World.
