BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 8 ranked LSU beach volleyball team will open up its first slate of home matches this weekend, hosting the Tiger Beach Challenge at Mango’s Beach Volleyball Club off of Sherwood Forest in Baton Rouge.

LSU will play host to a total of eight teams that will compete in the Challenge. The Lady Tigers open up play on Saturday morning against Tulane at 11 a.m. CT and against No. 10 South Carolina at 5 p.m. CT.

The team will conclude the Challenge on Sunday with matches against Florida International and North Florida at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. CT, respectively.

Admission to all events is free, and the first 200 fans will receive LSU aluminum water bottles on Saturday. A post-match autograph session will also take place following the conclusion of the matches on Saturday night.

“I think any time you have the opportunity to play at home there is a certain degree of pride that comes from defending our home turf. Mango’s is a great facility, and we have a bunch of great fans that support us out there,” said head coach Russell Brock.

“We’re looking to play our best matches of the season as far as execution and playing together. To be able to do it this weekend is going to be a worthwhile effort for sure.”

For LSU, freshman duo Claire Coppola and Kristen Nuss have compiled an impressive 5-2 record on the year, with three wins coming against top-10 opponents. The No. 2 pair’s only two losses this season have come against the No. 1 USC and No. 2 Florida State.

Callan Molle and Riley Young have also been dominant this season. Molle, a senior from Galena, Ohio, has garnered five wins on the season, including wins against the top-two teams in the nation.

A native of La Jolla, California, Young is 3-1 on the year with a sole loss to No. 4 UCLA.

Sophomore Megan Davenport took three of four matches at the East vs. West tournament, including victories against No. 1 USC and No. 4 UCLA. The native of Metairie has now won 16 of her last 18 matches dating back to last season.
