TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – After a near three-week break, the Tigers and Lady Tigers return to action on Friday morning at the annual Crimson Classic held at Harry Pricthett RC. The men will begin the meet, running the 8k race at 9 a.m. CT with the women following at 9:45 a.m. CT in the 6k race.

The Crimson Classic will feature 33 men’s and women’s teams. The men and women will compete against eight and seven conference foes respectively including host Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi and Tennessee.

In LSU’s last outing at the Texas A&M Invitational, the men and women had team finishes of sixth and seventh-place respectively. Both teams are looking to build upon and improve heading into tomorrow morning.

The men’s team was led by sophomore Dajour Braxton who is searching for his fourth-straight top-three finish after placing third individually in College Station. Senior Christian Johnson and freshman Harrison Martingayle were the two other top-50 finishers for the men. Johnson and Martingayle placed 41st and 46th respectively.

A notable performer for the women’s team at the Texas A&M Invitational was freshman Ruby Stauber who placed 15th individually. The second finisher for the women was sophomore Hollie Parker who earned 51st-place.

Head Coach Khadevis Robinson is hopeful the extra weeks of preparation will help both teams finish strong before the SEC Championships in two weeks. “We have been off for a couple of weeks,” Robinson said. “I think the team is ready and prepared to have a good race.”

Following the Crimson Classic, both the Tigers and Lady Tigers will have two weeks off before traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas for the SEC Championships on Friday, October 28.
