Braxton Leads Cross Country at Crimson Classic

Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Freshman Dajour Braxton’s 12th- place finish helped the Tigers finish 10th at the annual Crimson Classic held at Harry Pritchett Running Park Friday evening, while the women placed in the top-15. 

The Tigers finished with 294 points overall to give them a 10th-place finish out of 23 teams, while the Lady Tigers totaled 442 points, finishing 15th out of 26 teams. A total of 234 runners competed in the 5k race, while the men’s 8k consisted of 218 runners.

Oklahoma State’s cross country teams dominated the meet finishing first in the 5k race with 30 points and 27 points in the 8k race.

Braxton led the Tigers for the fifth straight meet with a time of 24 minutes and 49.61 seconds. Junior Christian Johnson posted a solid performance crossing the line as the second Tiger with a time 25:36.97 for 39th place.

Sophomore DC Lipani and freshmen Hayden Kingfisher finished neck and neck as Lipani crossed the line at 26:18.24 for 86th place with Kingfisher finishing 87th with a time of 26:18.21.

Freshmen Jackson Fountain, Austin Santacruz  and sophomore Bryan Stamey placed in the top-150 for the Tigers giving LSU an average time of 25:54.33.

Schuetz was the first Lady Tiger to cross the finish line with a time of 17:46.13 for 27thplace. Freshman Erika Lewis finished second for the Lady Tigers clocking 18:57.34 for 111th place.

The Lady Tigers posted an average team time of 18:58.10 with sophomore Rebecca Lewis, junior Jenna Walker, freshmen Hollie Parker, Hannah Bourque and junior Elizabeth Dunning rounding out the top-155.

The Crimson Classic completes LSU's regular season schedule. LSU will take one week off before heading into the post season. The Tigers and Lady Tigers will compete in the SEC Championships held at College Station, Texas on October 30th.
