BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU Tennis program has four former players currently participating in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour including Ken and Neal Skupski, Michael Venus and James Cluskey. These Tiger tennis alumni travel with the tour around the world to face the best the sport has to offer in hopes of improving their ranking and qualifying for a major tournament. Here is an update on how the Tigers have performed so far in the last month.

SKUPSKI BROTHERS WIN SLOVAKIA CHALLENGER TOURNAMENT; REACH SEMIS IN SWITZERLAND

Ken and Neal Skupski partnered up for six doubles victories in seven matches for the month, including a championship run at a challenger tournament in Bratislava, Slovakia on Nov. 3. The No. 86 ranked Skupski brothers navigated the field of 32 before eventually clinching the championship against Slovakia’s Norbert Gombos and Adam Pavlasek of the Czech Republic by a score of 6-3, 7-6(3). The event was worth 110 points and €2,625 in prize money. The brothers also notched two victories at a challenger event in Geneva, Switzerland before eventually falling in the semifinal match.

CLUSKEY REACHES FINALS TWICE, WINS FRANCE CHALLENGER

Cluskey (No. 160) posted a 9-3 doubles record for the month and won a challenger event on Oct. 20 in France. Cluskey paired up with fellow Irishman David O’hare to defeat the Belgian team of Maxime Authom and Ruben Bemelmans by a score of 7-6(5), 3-6, 10-8 in the final match to earn 35 points. Cluskey also qualified for the finals in Italy where he and American Austin Krajicek dropped a three-set final match to the Belarusian pair of Sergey Betov and Alexander Bury, 4-6, 7-5, 6-10.

VENUS SCORES SINGLES VICTORY FOR NEW ZEALAND

Venus, who is currently ranked No. 62 in doubles according to the ATP, scored a singles victory for New Zealand in their match against Chinese Taipei on Oct. 24. Venus went against Chieh-Fu Wang and won a three-set match, 7-6(5), 7-6(3), 6-2.

The Tigers on Tour are looking forward to more success in the coming month of ATP World Tour action.
