LSU Head Coach Trent Johnson has brought Chris Bobel with him from Stanford to LSU and Bobel will take over the Director of Basketball Operations position at LSU.

Bobel served as a video coordinator and coaching intern last season at Stanford.  At Stanford, Bobel coordinated film exchange and opponent scouting in addition to assisting with all other aspects of the Stanford men’s basketball program. Bobel also served as assistant camp director during his three seasons with the Stanford basketball program.

Bobel was a walk-on member of the Stanford men’s basketball squad in 2007. He was invited by Coach Johnson to join the team because of his toughness and athletic ability.

Prior to earning a playing jersey for Stanford, Bobel served as the program’s student recruiting coordinator during the 2005-06 campaign. Bobel also served as the head coach for the freshman team at Palo Alto High School and an assistant coach with the varsity team.

Bobel, a native of Palo Alto, Calif., is a 2002 graduate of Palo Alto High School where he was a three-year letterman and a two-year captain of the basketball team. Bobel was a two-time all-league selection and received the team’s Most Inspirational and Coaches Award honors as a senior where he averaged 12.0 points and three rebounds a game. He graduated with a bachelor of science in management science and engineering from Stanford in 2007.
