BATON ROUGE- With the additions of swimmers Helen Grossman and Matt Klotz, 13 members of the LSU swimming and diving team have now earned Scholar All-American honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association.

The 13 Scholar All-Americans mark the most recipients for the swimming and diving team since 2010.

The All-American selections recognize students that have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.50 and have participated in the NCAA Championships, while the honorable mention accolades distinguish students that have accumulated a GPA of at least 3.50 and have earned a ‘B' time standard or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.

On the men's team, Logan Rysemus, diver Juan Celaya-Hernandez, and Karl Luht were selected as Scholar All-Americans. Alarii Levreault-Lopez, Devin McCaffrey, Sven Saemundsson, Thomas Smith and Klotz were selected as honorable mentions.

For the women's squad, Catherine Lowengrub, Sophie Weber, Makenna Wilson, Kate Zimmer and Grossman also picked up honorable mention accolades.

LSU was one of over 700 schools across the nation to receive CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition. In the overall team standings, the men tied with Kentucky for third in the SEC with a cumulative GPA at 3.25, and the women combined for an impressive overall GPA of 3.20.

“This group is a great example of what we are working on accomplishing with the swimming and diving program,” said head swimming coach Dave Geyer. “Finding balance with excellence and success in the classroom and in the water is our mission here, and it is rewarding for these young men and women to have this honor given to them.”

"This is a terrific honor for these athletes who have proven themselves in the pool and the classroom. They have worked very hard to balance the demands of a being student athlete and we are very proud of them," said head diving coach Doug Shaffer.
