INDIANAPOLIS- Sophomore diver Lizzie Cui earned first-team All-America accolades on one-meter, compiling a score of 315.35 in the finals to place fifth overall in the nation on day two of the NCAA Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium.

Cui, a native of New Zealand, wrapped up the night as the 18th diver in women’s program history to earn All-America honors on one-meter and just the ninth to earn first team honors in the event, becoming the first since Jessica Wantz in 2004.

“Lizzie was rock solid today. She competed very well and did not miss a dive all day long. With very tight judging, consistency is what separated the top-eight from the rest of the field,” said head diving coach Doug Shaffer.

“A year ago, she was second-to-last in this same event, so a fifth-place finish today is a huge improvement. We are excited about going into three-meter tomorrow.”

Overall, Cui collects her second All-America honor after earning honorable mention honors last season on three-meter springboard, taking sixth place in the consolation final.

On the swimming side, senior Leah Troskot closed out the morning prelims after placing 34th in the nation in the 50 free, clocking at 22.41.

LSU returns to the pool tomorrow morning for day three of NCAA’s at 9 a.m. CT.
