Women's Golf Finishes 11th at SEC's

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Freshman golfer Marine Hedlund led the Lady Tigers on the final day of the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championships Sunday with a 1-over par round of 73 as the three-day event wrapped up at the Greystone Country Club’s Legacy Course.

Hedland had two bogies and a birdie on the par 3 13th hole in her best round of her first time competing in the conference championships.

LSU finished 11th in the three-day event after shooting a second straight round of 15-over par. The Lady Tigers have now concluded their regular season and will now wait for the announcement of the 72 teams for the NCAA regional round of play in early May.

LSU posted rounds of 305-303-303 for a 47-over par total of 911.

The nation’s No. 1 team, Alabama, posted 7-under on the final day and finished the 54-holes s the champion at 5-under par 859, five shots ahead of Florida, ranked No. 7, at 864. It was 18-shots back to third place No. 8 Arkansas at 882.

On the final day, LSU had rounds of 76 from Nadine Dreher and Kathleen Gallagher and a 78 from Elise Bradley. Bradley finished T29 for the tournament at 9-over 225 and Gallagher posted T37 at 11-over 227.

The individual competition was won by Maria Torres of Florida after a 2-uncer 70 gave her a 9-under winning total of 9-under 207 (69-68-70). South Carolina’s Katelyn Dambaugh posted 66 on the final day to get to second at 7-under 209.

The NCAA regional field will be announced on the Golf Channel on April 25.
