NORMAN, Okla. – LSU senior women’s golfer Caroline Nistrup, making her first competitive collegiate start in just under a year after a wrist injury, picked up her tenth career top 10 finish Sunday at the Schooner Fall Classic.

The LSU women’s golf team finished tied for sixth place in the 54-hole event that finished on the par-71 layout.

Nistrup, from Denmark, played just six rounds (2 fall events) a season ago, and after surgery has worked hard to get her game back into the shape that earned her All-America honors in the spring of 2015.

Nistrup had rounds of 69-70-72 to finish at 2-under par 211 for the tournament. Sunday, Nistrup had two bogeys on the round and a late birdie on the par 3 17th hole to shoot 1-over 72 on the day.

Morgane Metraux of Florida State posted a 12-under par score of 201 to win the individual title.

Sophomore Kathleen Gallagher had the low round of the day for the Lady Tigers with an even par 71. The Mississippi native bogeyed seven and nine and then got back to even par with birdies on the par 4 10th and 16th holes. Gallagher shot one-over on the final 36 holes and finished the event at 9-over 222.

In the final round, Nistrup was tied for the event lead with 15 pars on the 18 holes and Gallagher played the par 4 holes in 1-under par. For the tournament, Nistrup was -5 on the par 5 holes and had 40 pars, one off the tournament best total for the 54 holes with eight total birdies.

Freshman Monica Dibildox of Mexico made a smooth transition in collegiate golf, posting rounds of 73-72-75 for a three-round total of 7-over 220.  Claudia De Antonio posted 74 on the final day and Baton Rouge sophomore Sydney Cavin had a 4-over 75.

LSU counted no score higher than 75 in the tournament. The Lady Tigers posted 8-over 292 on the final round to finish at 19-over par 871 (291-288-292). LSU tied with Texas A&M and Notre Dame in the event won easily by Florida State at 23-under par, 12 shots clear of Alabama. Clemson rounded out the top three.

There will be a bit of a break for LSU before heading to the Ruth’s Chris Lady Tar Heel event at Chapel Hill, N.C., starting on Oct. 14, the second of three fall events for the Lady Tigers
