BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – LSU senior women’s golf Elise Bradley in her final SEC event, posted a 1-over 73, and freshman Kathleen Gallagher in her first posted 3-over 75 to lead the Lady Tigers after the first round of the Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Championship event here Friday over the Greystone Country Club Legacy Course.
The Lady Tigers as a team fired a 17-over 305 over the 6,200-yard par 72 layout in the play-5, count-4 tournament format and stands T11 after the first of three rounds in the event that runs through Sunday.
LSU is tied with Mississippi State with Alabama, the nation’s number one team, the only team under par after 18 holes of play at 2-under. The Crimson Tide leads Florida in second by six shots (+4) with Missouri in third.
Bradley had birdies on the back-to-back par 4 holes, 15 and 16, her sixth and seventh of the day to spot a three-bogey, two-birdie round that put her just outside the top 10 after the opening day of play. Gallagher had two birdies on her round as well which helped offset troubles on two par 3 holes in her round.
The Lady Tigers were 10 over on their first 9 holes (10-18) and seven over coming home (1-9).
The second round begins at 8 a.m. CT with live scoring at LSUsport.net through Golfstatresults.com. Follow updates on LSU women’s golf at www.Facebook.com/LSUwomensgolf and @LSUwomensgolf on Twitter.
