PALM CITY, Fla. – The fifth-ranked LSU Tigers opened the Valspar Collegiate Invitational with a team score of 13-over par 297 to sit in sixth place among the field of 14 teams as senior Brandon Pierce led the way with his 2-over 73 and senior Eric Ricard followed with a 3-over 74 during Sunday’s first round at Floridian Golf Club.

The Tigers finished Sunday’s play nine shots off the pace set by Texas A&M as the Aggies posted a 4-over par 288 to take an early three-shot lead over Wake Forest in second place at 7-over par 291.
