Hoover Earns NFCA Co-Pitcher of the Week
Asst. Communications Director
BATON ROUGE – After recording two wins on the weekend, senior Carley Hoover earned NFCA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors as announced by the NFCA Tuesday afternoon.
“She had two really solid performances against Auburn,” said head coach Beth Torina. “She is very deserving of this honor and it’s a credit to our whole team. She has done this all season long and continues to fire up our team.”
Hoover led the Tigers in the circle, earning two victories in the first sweep of Auburn since the 2010 season. She went 2-0 with 18 strikeouts in 14.2 innings of work. She did not allow a run all weekend and allowed a combined nine hits in her two appearances.
The right-hander came in from the bullpen and earned the win in the 14-inning thriller to start the series with Auburn. She tallied 10 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of relief work.
She also earned the series finale shutout win, her fifth shutout on the year, to secure the sweep on Sunday. She allowed just three hits, facing a total of 25 batters for the game. She fanned eight and did not walk a batter in the series finale.
This is the third overall NFCA Pitcher of the Week award in program history and is Hoover’s second in her career. She earned the honor back on March 8 of the 2016 season.
