A weekend starter for LSU during the 2007 season before signing a contract with the Detroit Tigers (fourth round draft selection) in June of ’07 ... came to LSU in the fall of 2006 as the No. 1 southpaw pitching prospect in the prestigious Cape Cod League ... an intimidating presence on the mound ... live fastball that tops out at 94 mph with a deceptive changeup and curve ... ranked the 10th-best overall prospect in the Cape Cod League by Baseball America after a brilliant stint with the Hyannis Mets ... received the 2006 John Claffey New England Top Prospect Award after posting a 3-2 record with a 1.83 ERA in a team-high 54 innings of work ... started seven games, struck out 50 hitters and held opponents to a .212 batting average ... named to the Cape Cod All-League Team ... in a 133-pitch outing on July 26, 2006, fired a no-hitter against the Bourne Braves in a 14-0 victory ... struck out 12 in the outing and walked three ... started the Cape Cod League All-Star game for the West squad and threw a scoreless frame ... tossed 8.1 brilliant innings in defeating the Cape's top team, the Cotuit Kettleers.
