LSU’s leading hitter, batting .316 (65-for-206) with 12 doubles, three triples, seven homers, 46 RBI and 30 runs ... hit .303 (20-for-66) with runners in scoring position ... started in all 56 of LSU’s games – 28 starts in left field, 24 at DH and four in right field ... earned Freshman All-America and Freshman All-SEC recognition and was voted the Louisiana Freshman of the Year by the state’s sportswriters association ... named SEC Freshman of the Week on May 7 after leading LSU to four wins in five games . . . hit .333 (7-for-21) in the five games with one homer, five RBI and two runs scored . . . his solo homer in the fourth inning May 6 against Arkansas gave the Tigers a lead they would never relinquish in a 5-3 victory . . .
