ATHENS, Ga. – No. 5 LSU gymnastics put together a solid 196.800 score, but it was not enough as the Tigers fell at No. 11 Georgia Saturday afternoon in Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia (4-3, 4-1 Southeastern Conference) put up a season-high 197.525 to come away with the win.

LSU (7-2, 3-1) earned a 49.200 on bars, 49.275 on vault, 49.275 on floor and 49.050 on beam to finish with a season-best road score of 196.800.

Ashleigh Gnat won the vault and floor titles with a 9.95 and 9.925, respectively, to increase her team lead to 11 individual titles this season.

Erin Macadaeg secured her second beam title of the season with a fantastic 9.925 performance in the leadoff spot against the Gymdogs.

“These kids gave us 100 percent; they gave us all they had,” LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. “We have a home meet next week against a good Auburn team, so it will be a good week in the gym in preparation for a great competition next Friday.”

LSU opened the meet with a 49.200 on bars. Sarah Finnegan led the squad with a 9.875, followed by a 9.85 from Jessica Savona and 9.825s from Myia Hambrick, Julianna Cannamela and Shae Zamardi.

The Tigers posted a 49.275 on vault in the second rotation, paced by Gnat’s 9.95 that won the event. Sydney Ewing added a 9.875, and Hambrick tallied a 9.85. A pair of 9.80s from Cannamela and Finnegan rounded out the scoring.

At the halfway point of the meet LSU trailed by two tenths, 98.675-98.475.

Just like in the second rotation LSU finished with a 49.275 on floor in the third rotation. Gnat’s fantastic routine in the anchor spot netted a 9.925 to highlight the Tigers’ performances. Hambrick tallied a 9.875, and Ewing led off with a 9.85. LSU also counted a 9.825 from Randii Wyrick and a 9.80 from McKenna Kelley.

LSU wrapped up the meet with a 49.050 on beam, led by a season-high 9.925 from Macadaeg in the leadoff spot and a 9.90 from Hambrick in the second spot of the lineup. The Tigers also counted a 9.80 from Ewing, a 9.75 from Cannamela and a 9.675 from Finnegan.

Prior to the meet, freshman Lexie Priessman injured her foot during floor warmups, and Breaux offered an update on Priessman’s status after the meet.

“Lexie saw Georgia’s team doctor, and we won’t be sure until we get home and Dr. Brent Bankston looks at it,” Breaux said. “Georgia’s doctor was optimistic, but he said ‘I would get an MRI on Monday.’ That’s where we are at the moment.”

LSU returns to the Maravich Center on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. CT start against No. 8 Auburn. Tickets are available for purchase by visiting www.LSUtix.net, calling the LSU Ticket Office at 225-578-2184 or in person on the first floor of the LSU Athletics Administration Building.
