Women's Basketball Returns Home Against Auburn

BATON ROUGE, La. – The LSU women’s basketball team (11-5, 3-2 SEC) returns home from a two-game roadtrip to face Auburn on Thursday, Jan. 18. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

 

Thursday’s game will be televised on the SEC Network Plus, and broadcast worldwide on the LSU Sports Radio Network. Lyn Rollins and Victor Howell will call the action for SECN+, while Patrick Wright handles the radio duties. Links to audio, video and live stats are available at LSUsports.net.

 

Fans attending the game will receive a packet of LSU Lady Tigers trading cards and will play Trivial Pursuit throughout the game. It is also LSU Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night. All LSU faculty and staff receive free admission to the game. Single game tickets and group packages are available at LSUtix.net.

 

For Lady Tiger fans unable to get to the Maravich Center, the game can be watched on the SEC Network Plus on their computers, tablets, iPads or phones through the WatchESPN app or at ESPN.com.

 

This will be the 53rd meeting between LSU and Auburn (10-7, 1-4 SEC). Auburn holds a 31-21 series lead and holds a 12-11 edge in the series when playing in Baton Rouge. Auburn is led by junior Janiah McKay. McKay is averaging 17.4 points per game and has made 80 assists this season.

 

Auburn won last year’s game in Auburn, 54-49, on Feb. 13, 2017, and has won the last two meetings between the two teams. LSU has won six of the last eight games.

 

LSU is currently 11-2 when every day starters Raigyne Louis, Chloe Jackson and Ayana Mitchell score 10 or more points in the same game. When Mitchell scores 10 or more points in a game, LSU is 16-5.

 

Jackson leads LSU with 16.9 points per game, followed by Louis at 15.7. Mitchell leads the team with 6.9 rebounds per game, followed by Louis with 5.3 and Faustine Aifuwa with 5.1 board per outing.

 

Awards News

LSU assistant coach Mickie DeMoss was named one of the 10 finalists for the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2018 on Thursday evening. DeMoss is in her second season with the Lady Tigers and her 39th season overall as a collegiate coach. The class will be announced on Feb. 12.
