Volleyball Hosts Tiger Classic Friday and Saturday

BATON ROUGE – The LSU volleyball team opens up its home schedule this weekend, playing host to the Tiger Classic Friday and Saturday inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. All matches are FREE.
Along with the Tigers, Duke, USF and Texas A&M Corpus Christi round out the field of participants. Duke (0-2) and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (0-4) are looking for their first wins of 2018, while USF is undefeated at 3-0.

Series History with the Field
Friday’s match with Texas A&M Corpus Christi will be the third meeting between the two teams in program history. The Tigers are 2-0 against the Islanders. LSU and Duke will meet for the eighth time. LSU owns a 4-3 advantage over the Blue Devils. The meeting between USF and the Tigers will be the fourth and LSU owns a 2-1 mark.
>> Head coach Fran Flory is in her 21st season at the helm of the LSU volleyball program. The winningest coach in school history, Flory has led the Tigers to NCAA Tournament appearances in nine of the last 13 seasons.
>> LSU went 1-2 at the Baylor Invitational last weekend, earning its first win of the 2018 season over Texas State in the final match of the weekend.
>> Taylor Bannister, a 2017 All-American, led the Tigers’ offense last weekend with 3.64 kills per set. She finished each of the three matches in double-digit kills.
>> Jacqui Armer earned Best Blocker of the Baylor Invitational, finishing the weekend with 11 total blocks, 1.00 blocks per set.
>> Raigen Cianciulli anchored the back row with 3.36 digs per set. She finished each of the three matches with double-digit digs.
>> The Tigers finished last season with a 20-10 overall record, ending their season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against San Diego in the Southern California Regional.
