Volleyball's Bannister Named SEC Freshman of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time this season, LSU volleyball freshman Taylor Bannister has been named SEC Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
This is the second honor for the Tigers this season as Bannister was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 11. The last time the Tigers had at least two SEC Freshman of the Week honors was in 2013.
The 6-5 freshman led the Tigers in kills on the weekend, averaging 4.38 per set for a total of 35 on the weekend for a .274 hitting percentage. She finished with match-highs of 13 kills in the three-set sweep of Mississippi State on Friday and 22 kills in the five-set victory over Arkansas on Sunday.
Bannister denied the Razorbacks on Sunday, tallying five total blocks. She recorded six kills in the first set and five kills in the fourth set against Arkansas.
On the season, Bannister leads the team in kills at 3.31 per set. She has a total of 205 in the 62 sets played this season.
