BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 44 LSU men's tennis team (11-8, 3-5 SEC) look to complete their final day of home matches facing No. 7 Georgia (13-3, 7-0 SEC) and UNO (6-4) Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the LSU Tennis Complex.

“We are excited to play a very good team in Georgia,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “As Senior Day, we are hoping the team represents our outgoing seniors with the passion and fight that they have shown. We are excited about the direction that we are going and getting things together. We hope to continue our high level of play.”

The Tigers are coming off a 4-3 win over South Carolina Friday where LSU’s Justin Butsch had a third set clinch on court two to break the tied three-all score. The team also saw victories from Boris Arias and Jordan Daigle after taking the doubles point. Daigle’s victory marked his first SEC win in the dual season with a 7-6(7-2), 6-3 win over South Carolina’s Gabriel Friedrich.

Georgia is currently on a nine-match win streak after defeating conference opponent Texas A&M, 4-1, Friday in College Station. Georgia has three ranked singles players in No. 34 Wayne Montgomery, No. 35 Austin Smith and Walker Duncan who is ranked 120th.  Smith and partner Ben Wagland also make up the No. 5 duo for the Bulldogs along with Paul Ooosterbaan and Jan Zielinski at No. 58.

In the fall, LSU’s No. 10 duo of Arias and Daigle defeated Smith and Wagland at the Oracle/ITA Masters event when the Georgia team was ranked No. 1. Daigle currently holds the spot as LSU’s only ranked singles player at No. 69.

LSU’s second opponent of the day, the University of New Orleans, holds a 1-1 record in their conference. In last year’s competition between the two teams, LSU swept the Privateers, 7-0, in Baton Rouge.

Sunday is senior day with a brief ceremony honoring Arias, Andrew Korinek and Tam Trinh during the Georgia match between doubles and singles play. Fans who come out for the two competitions can also enjoy free pizza that will be served during the Georgia match.
