BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 32 LSU men’s tennis team (6-3), begins SEC play Friday against No. 30 Florida (5-3) at 5:30 p.m. at the LSU Tennis Complex in Baton Rouge, La.
“They have as many ranked singles players as any team that I know of,” Head Coach Jeff Brown said. “They’re certainly going to end up a lot higher than what they are ranked currently. You just can’t have that many strong players in your lineup and that not happen. We are really looking forward to a great match here in Baton Rouge and we are excited to begin SEC play.”
The Tigers are coming off a midweek loss against instate opponent Tulane, where they lost 4-2 to the Green Wave. LSU’s Jordan Daigle, ranked 17th, played a tough three set match on court one against the No. 1 singles player in the nation, Dominik Koepfer but ultimately fell to his opponent.
“It’s a small margin of error and we’ve come out on top the majority of the time,” Brown said. “We hope to just keep improving and keep the margin in our favor.”
Florida, in their last match, swept their opponent in the Florida State Seminoles with the first four courts of singles having ranked personnel for the Gators. Coming into Baton Rouge, UF has five ranked singles players along with the No. 1 and No. 32 doubles teams.
In addition to a quality match up between two SEC opponents, there will be free Jambalaya for fans who come out to watch the match.
