BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU (12-9, 3-6 SEC), ranked 39th in the country, travels to Knoxville to face the unranked University of Tennessee (11-12, 0-8 SEC) in a 1 p.m. matchup Friday at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.

“Tennessee is certainly a team that’s going to be hungry,” head coach Jeff Brown said. “We’ve been in that situation before when we haven’t quite had the year that you’d hope to have but you’re still always trying to find any opportunity to get things turned around. They haven’t given up and we understand that. We are going to have to be as hungry as we’ve been in the Vandy, South Carolina and Georgia matches.”

LSU took their third SEC win against South Carolina Friday in Baton Rouge where Justin Butsch clinched on court two, giving LSU a 4-3 win. This court two clinch, accompanied with a three-set victory over Georgia’s No. 34 Wayne Montgomery, brought Butsch into the rankings for the first time since January at No. 95.

Jordan Daigle remains in the rankings as well at No. 79. Daigle and partner Boris Arias together make up the No. 11 duo in the country.

The Volunteers hold a ranked doubles pair in Luis Valero and Jack Schipanski at No. 15. They hold an 11-3 record for the dual season at the No. 1 position along with a 3-2 SEC record. Valero also enters the rankings this week at No. 108 in singles.

In their last meeting, the Tigers defeated UT, 4-0, in Baton Rouge with a court three clinch from Tam Trinh.
