BATON ROUGE – After advancing to the Doubles Round of 16 with a gritty 8-4 win, LSU men’s tennis tandem Nikola Samardzic and Julian Saborio were unable to secure a win into Sunday’s quarterfinal round, falling to Alabama’s Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov, 8-7(4), in Day 4 of the ITA Southern Regional at the LSU Tennis Complex.

The ITA Southern Regional continues at the LSU Tennis Complex with its final matches on Monday. Follow and for updates.

Brandi’s Corner
“They played a good match today, but unfortunately they played their weakest hands when it counted the most,” co-head coach Andy Brandi said. “They played very well all the way up to seven-all. In the tiebreaker, their level had to be sustained as they had throughout the 14 games, and they weren’t able to do it. That was the difference of losing that match.

Doubles Main Draw Round of 16
After falling behind early, 2-0, the Samardzic and Saborio were able to tie the match at 3-3. The Tigers then rallied to bring the match to a 5-5 tie after Alabama’s Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov. The Tiger duo then forced the match into a tiebreaker where they eventually fell, 8-7(3).
