Brandi’s Corner
“It was an up-and-down day overall,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “I was a little disappointed with Nikola (Samardzic)’s match today. I don’t think he played consistently well today. There were spots where he looked like a really good tennis player and other times where he kind of just gave it to his opponent.

“Rafael (Wagner) had a great win to start the day and played really well. We were really proud of him. Even with the start of his second match, he played a really great first set, but then, physically he broke down. That’s something he has to really work on. He essentially just gave the match away today. We felt like that was one he could have pulled off and would have been thrilled for him to be playing tomorrow.

“In doubles, these guys played really well tonight. We started off a little slow, but once they got in the groove, they played really well. I thought a lot of positive things happened in that match. We are excited to play doubles again tomorrow and see what we can do there.”

Singles Main Draw Round of 32
Wagner continued with his momentum from Friday in the round of 32 as he took a quick 6-3, 6-4 win against Mississippi State’s Florian Broska.

After taking an early lead, Nikola Samardzic fell in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-3 to Ole Miss’ Fabian Fallert.

Singles Main Draw Round of 16
After dominating his morning match in the round of 32 and taking the first set, 5-7, from Ole Miss’ Tim Sandkaulen, Wagner retired due to injury, 5-7, 6-2.

Doubles Main Draw Round of 32
In a nail-biter on court three, LSU duo Nikola Samardzic and Julian Saborio were back-and forth with Troy’s Peerani and Poyatos. The Tiger tandem, then, jumped to a 5-3 lead before pulling away to an 8-4 victory to advance to Sunday’s round of 16.
