BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After announcing the spring honor roll yesterday, more academic honors were bestowed on LSU student-athletes today as the 2013-14 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll was released with 37 Tigers making the final cut.

LSU got double-digit selections from the men's and women's swimming and diving teams, combining for 11 total selections, followed by the men's and women's track and field squad that clocked in with eight. The women's soccer team had four honorees, while the gymnastics team had three.

Nearly every sport had at least one representative on the list, as women's basketball and women's golf had two representatives each, while baseball, football, men's golf, women's tennis, softball, sand volleyball and women's volleyball had one selection.

A total of 820 student-athletes were named to the 2013-14 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, Friday by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. A total of 3,270 student-athletes around the league earned Academic Honor Roll recognition in 2013-14.

Each student-athlete must 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship or a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment.
