BATON ROUGE - Members of the LSU Soccer program have been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for their academic performance with a NSCAA Team Academic Award while maintaining a strong 3.21 cumulative team grade-point average during the 2011-12 academic year.
The NSCAA announced this week that a total of 726 college soccer programs have been honored as Team Academic Award recipients after posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher over the past year.
That includes 222 men's programs and 504 women's programs honored for their academic efforts in their pursuit of excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
The Tigers are among 12 teams in the Southeastern Conference to earn a NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year as they join the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt. With its team GPA of 3.21, LSU ranks among the SEC leaders in academic performance this year.
