BATON ROUGE - The 2012 Fall N4A Regional Conference will be held in Atlanta, Ga. hosted by Georgia State University. This three-day conference will give the CCACSA staff the opportunity to learn from their peers as well as present.
Walt Holliday, Director of Academic Affairs of the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes is currently the N4A Region II rep elect.
"We are extremely excited to have our staff present at the conference," Holliday said. "This is a tremendous opportunity for our staff to not only promote our center but to also bring recognition to the university on a national platform."
This conference will give Ericka Lavender, the Assistant Director of CCACSA, Carole Walker, the Associate Director of CCASA, and Ernie Fingers, Learning Specialist of CCACSA the chance to present.
"Having an opportunity to present at the regional conference is an honor and a chance to represent the depth and range of talent and experience that we have LSU," Fingers said. "Presenting information on a topic that is pertinent to student academic development to a room of your peers is a privilege. Being looked upon as a source of useful information is something that I take very seriously, but I also have lots of fun doing it."
Walker and Lavender will be presenting "Creating a Successful Academic Boot Camp," and Fingers will be presenting "Metacognition: Pursuing A Vision For Improved Student-Athlete Learning." These two presentations are the foundation for creating a formula for retention and graduation for all student-athletes.
"Interacting with your peers in the profession, from various academic institutions, who are also experiencing similar challenges is a chance to enhance my knowledge," Fingers said. "But the important part is returning to LSU to share different strategies, thoughts and ideas with our academic support team and our student-athletes."
