LEXINGTON, Ky. - The LSU Lady Tigers (6-2, 1-0 SEC) opened Southeastern Conference play with their fifth-straight victory, at Kentucky(8-4, 1-0 SEC) in a dual match that lasted nearly five hours inside the Hilary J. Boone Varsity Tennis Complex on Saturday.

"I was really impressed by the performance this team put in today," LSU head coach Tony Minnis said, "They battled through adversity in indoor conditions, so to go on the road and beat a team like we faced really speaks to our group."

Keri Frankenberger and Whitney Wolf opened the day with a 9-8 (3) victory over Jessica Stiles and Khristina Blajkevitch on court one. The win was the veteran duo's fifth-consecutive, and they are 4-0 in tiebreakers this season.

Ariel Morton and Ebie Wilson then fell to Marni Venter and CeCe Witten 8-4 on court three.

Olivia Howlett and Yvette Vlaar clinched the doubles point for LSU 8-5 over Caitlin McGraw and Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff on court two.

Howlett was first off court in singles, as she took her fifth match in-a-row over Caitlin McGraw 6-1, 6-2 on court two, extending LSU's early 2-0 advantage.

Morin-Kougoucheff got Kentucky on the board in straight sets over Ebie Wilson 6-0, 6-2 on court four.

Jessica Stiles evened the match at 2-2 as she prevailed over Wolf 6-2, 6-3 on court one.

Kaitlin Burns battled back from a set down to prevail over Blajkevitch 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 on court three, putting the Lady Tigers a point away from clinching.

Stephanie Fox leveled the match once again, as she beat Frankenberger 6-2, 6-1 on court five to make it 3-3.

The match came down to court six, where Yvette Vlaar triumphed over Witten 6-2, 6-1 to seal the positive result for LSU. The sophomore has vanquished eight of her most recent 11 opponents.

LSU now leads the all-time series with Kentucky 18-16.

The Lady Tigers face a quick turnaround as they travel to Vanderbilt (9-4, 1-0 SEC) on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CT.
