LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 41 LSU women’s tennis team will face No. 31 Kentucky on Friday at 10 a.m. CST in Lexington, Ky. for the SEC opener.
“SEC season is the most exciting time of year because of all the incredible rivalries and the strength of the conference,” said LSU head coach Julia Sell. “We have had a nice break leading into this weekend and we are excited to start competing again. We look forward to a battling a very solid Kentucky team.”
In its last outing, the Lady Tigers swept a double header against No. 72 Northwestern State and McNeese State. Skylar Holloway notched two victories on the day as LSU topped Northwestern State 5-0 and McNeese State 5-2.
With these two wins, the Lady Tigers improved their season record to 7-2. Kentucky is 10-2 on the season.
Joana Vale Costa continued her dominance as she won matches over USF, Northwestern State and McNeese State to improve her overall record to 7-1. This marks the first time a Lady Tiger has won seven of her first eight matches since Kaitlin Burns in 2010.
Kentucky leads the series with LSU 18-17 after the Wildcats defeated the Lady Tigers 4-3 in their last meeting on March 3, 2013.
