Cheerleading Pair Wins Second Straight Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. -- LSU cheerleaders Chad Price and Kelly Steiger successfully defended their their Coed Partner Stunt National Championship on Thursday night at the  2002 College Cheerleading National Championships held in Disney World's Pleasure Island in Orlando.

Price and Steiger, who also won the 2001 championship in Orlando, will fly to New York to be featured on ABC's Good Morning America on Monday, Jan. 14. The show begins at 6 a.m. CST.

For the second time in school history, LSU mascot Mike the Tiger competed in the mascot competition and finished eighth at the Indiana Jones Theater at Disney's MGM Studios on Friday. Mike last competed in national championship during the 1990-91 season, finishing in the Top 10.

On Saturday, the Tiger Girls Dance Team finished 11th in the Division I-A National Dance Team Championships, which was held at Disney's Wide World of Sports.

Later on Saturday evening, the LSU Cheerleading squad finished fourth in the Division I-A National Cheerleading Team Championships.
