BATON ROUGE – Four LSU student-athletes from two different sports gave up a portion of their Saturday to serve the children in the Baton Rouge community at the Louisiana Association of Educators’ Read Across Louisiana Event, hosted at the Mall of Louisiana.

Dr. Seuss was the theme of the event, as the student-athletes read his stories to all the children in attendance, who were also given hats. Some volunteers at the event even wore costumes, like Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Track and Field’s Joshua Thompson enjoyed participating in the event and meeting the children.

“Everyone had a great time at the event,” Thompson said. “They had great activities for the children including us reading to them, drawing contests and even dancing.”
