Athletics Marketing Snags Three NACMA Awards
BATON ROUGE - The LSU Marketing and Promotions department secured three national awards at the annual National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) convention.
Over the past two years, LSU is joined by Florida State, Kansas State and Tennessee as the only four schools in the BCS Division to rack up six awards.
"It is an honor for us to be recognized by NACMA as Andy Rowdon, Daniel Nunes and Lauren Taylor continue to develop innovative ideas," assistant Athletic Director for Marketing Craig Pintens said. "We are also fortunate to have great people in the department supporting us. Without Coach Flory's willingness to live in an RV, Coach Johnson's willingness to play dodgeball and the assistance of the football video staff we wouldn't be so fortunate. We want to continue striving for ways to engage the best fan base in the country."
The Tigers won gold in the video promotion category behind the Saturday Night in Death Valley piece written by legendary Dan Borne'.
LSU notched a silver medal in electronic promotion for its "Free Fran Flory" campaign where Flory spent three days and two nights in a RV Camper on campus. During Flory's stay, LSU volleyball tripled its following on Twitter.
The Tigers took home the bronze in student promotion as the head coach Trent Johnson and his men's basketball staff played host to a dodgeball tournament with the Maravich Maniacs. The preseason event proved to be extremely popular among LSU's student fan group.
All of the awards were presented as part of the 20th annual NACMA convention in Orlando, Fla., last week.
