BATON ROUGE – LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva welcomed three LSU student-athletes who are graduating with Latin honors to enjoy breakfast Thursday morning at the Moran Family Center for Athletic Administration Building.
Fleming is graduating Summa Cum Laude in microbiology, while Furr is graduating Magna Cum Laude in mass communication and Duvall is graduating Cum Laude in biology.
“These three young ladies represent what LSU is all about and that is preparing young people for the rest of their lives,” Alleva said. “They are great student-athletes and great people who have performed well in all aspects of collegiate athletics.
“It was wonderful to have breakfast with them, and I know they will be very successful as they go forward.”
The student-athletes chatted with Alleva about their respective careers and reminisced about favorite moments and memories at LSU.
“It was really cool to have this experience because it was a fun breakfast, and it was nice being able to talk to Mr. Alleva,” Duvall said. “It was very kind of him to honor us with this breakfast, and it was a fun experience.”
“It was an exciting opportunity because we were being recognized for our academic standing, and it was awesome the administration wanted to do this because academics were a prominent part of our experience as student-athletes at LSU,” Fleming said.
All three student-athletes will take part in graduation commencement exercises Friday on campus.
