AUBURN, Ala. -- The LSU Diving team finished the fall portion of its season with the platform dive during day three of the Auburn Diving Invitational.

Over the course of the meet, LSU captured three out of six individual titles in a field that consisted of Alabama, Auburn and Georgia Tech.

"This was a perfect culmination for an excellent fall campaign for our diving squad," Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. "We are looking forward to some down time, some time with the family and to put some gas back in the tank. We will come back and work even harder as we move to the champion season."

Freshman Allie Alter notched LSU's all-time third best platform score of 241.50 in a third place finish. Her score qualified her for the NCAA Zone Diving Regionals.

Senior Elle Schmidt set her career high on the platform with a score of 235.75, which is fourth best all-time for LSU, in a fourth place finish.

"Every time we get up there and have an opportunity to compete as individuals and as a team, we are developing more and more on the platform," Shaffer said. "This is exactly what we want to see from competition to competition."

Junior Kevin Leong posted LSU's fourth best all-time platform score (329.30) and ended his run in fourth. Junior Daniel Helm notched his season best with a score of 322.70.

On Tuesday, junior Sean McKinney set an LSU all-time record on the three-meter springboard with a score of 415.50 in a first place performance, making him the first Tiger to break the 400 point barrier in that event.

During the first two days of competition, freshman diver Cassie Weil completed the springboard event sweep with a first place finish on the one-meter with a score of 283.55 and a first place finish on the three-meter with a score of 329.30.

The LSU divers will return to action at the Tennessee Diving Invitational on Jan. 3. The divers will be competing against a stacked field including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Georgia, JMU, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Penn State, SMU, San Diego State, Tennessee and Virginia.

The LSU men's swim team will host Kentucky for senior day on Jan. 5, at 10 a.m. (CT) in the LSU Natatorium. All admission to home meets is free of charge.
