BATON ROUGE -- The Southeastern Conference has named LSU freshman diver Cassie Weil the SEC Female Diver of the Week following her record setting performance in her collegiate debut this past weekend at Auburn.

Weil reset the LSU all-time three-meter dive record with a score of 372.68, and won the event by over 75 points.

"Freshman Cassie Weil was truly the standout of the meet," Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. "Her debut performance was phenomenal. Cassie is working very hard in the pool and in the classroom. She has set high goals and is working daily to achieve them. This is a great start to what I believe will be a terrific year."

The Hillsboro, Ore. native completed the diving sweep later in the meet with a first place finish on the one-meter springboard with a total of 289.13. Over the course of the meet, Weil scored 18 of LSU's 78.5 points.

Weil arrived on campus with a spectacular track record after finishing eighth and 10th on the three-meter and platform, respectively, at the 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships. She also is a USA Diving Olympic Trial Qualifier, a 17-time Junior National Finalist, four-time Senior National Qualifier and two-time Senior National Finalist.
