KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – LSU Diving junior Cassie Weil ended the summer with two top-eight finishes at AT&T Diving Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee over the weekend.
Weil finished eighth on platform with a score of 280.85. She also finished 13th during the semifinal (259.25) and 12th in the quarterfinal (255.85). The junior increased the difficulty of her platform dives over the summer while training with her club team in Oregon.
“I’m really proud of her weekend here at the diving championships,” LSU Diving coach Doug Shaffer said. “She has increased her degree of difficulty and gained valuable experience. The hard work and dedication she has put into her training this summer has really paid off.”
The Beaverton, Oregon native also finished eighth in the final of three-meter. She also finished eighth during the semifinal (272.55) and seventh in the quarterfinal (289.95).
The LSU Swimming and Diving team returns to campus this week in preparation for the new season. The 2014-15 season begins Sept. 26 with the annual Purple and Gold Intrasquad meet. The meet will take place in the newly renovated LSU Natatorium, and admission to the meet is free.
