BATON ROUGE, La. – Ten members of the LSU Swimming and Diving Team are set for the 2014 Phillips 66 National Championships Aug. 6-10 at the William Woollet Jr. Aquatics Complex in Irvine, California.
Prelims of the National Championships begin every morning at 11 a.m. (CT). Finals for all events begin at 8 p.m. (CT). Results of the final session will be available each evening at usaswimming.org/nationals.
“It’s a great meet to be a part of,” LSU Swimming coach Dave Geyer said. “These are truly the fastest swimmers in the country. USA Swimming is selecting four or five international teams from this meet so it’s important to go out and do our best. This is a stepping stone for Olympic trials.”
Amber Carter is the lone senior representing LSU at national championships. The Houston, Texas native qualified individually for NCAA Championships last season, and was a part of the team that set the program record in the 400-medley relay. Carter will swim the 50 free, 50 fly and 100 fly.
Caley Oquist will swim the 50 back, 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM. Oquist qualified individually for NCAA Championships and set the program record in the 100 back and 200 back last season.
Sophomore Kara Kopcso highlighted last season by qualifying individually for NCAA Championships and setting the program record in the 200 fly. Kopcso will swim the 50 fly, 100 fly, 200 fly and 200 IM.
Colleen O’Neil, Sophie Weber, Megan Cox, Logan Rysemus, Brandon Goldman, Silas Dejean and Garrett House also head to Irvine to represent LSU.
