Nistrup Takes Third Place at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – LSU freshman Caroline Nistrup continued her outstanding play, firing a final round of even par 72 to take home a tie for third place in the Ruth’s Chris Lady Tar Heel at the UNC Finley Golf Course on Sunday.

Nistrup in LSU’s six rounds in nine days, finished fourth at the Schooner Fall Invite and third at the Tar Heel, posting a six-round total of 4-under par. The Denmark native was at even par on the par 70 layout at the Schooner and then was 4-under par 212 for the Tar Heel, highlighted by the 5-under par 67 on Saturday (73-67-72).

Nistrup tied with Celine Boutier of Duke (73-68-71) and Laetittia Bech of Duke (69-71-72) at 4-under 212. Ashlan Ramsey of Clemson was the individual winner 9-under par 207 (68-69-70), while Jenny Hahn of Vanderbilt took second at 5-under 211 (73-71-67).

Nistrup led the field posting 6-under par on the par 5s over the course of the three-day 54-hole event. LSU as a team was second only to Clemson on the par 5s, thanks to Nistrup, posting 10-under par for the event.

LSU had its best round of the tournament, shooting a 6-over 294 on the final day to move up to 11th place at 23-over 887 (295-298-294). Duke was the early winner at 7-under 857 (286-282-289). Vanderbilt was second at 4-over 868.

The Lady Tigers on the final day counted a best of 1-under 71 from Madelen Sagstrom who was the individual winner in the Schooner Fall Classic last Monday in this two tournament run. Ali Lucas had a 75 and Lindsay Gahm and Carly Goldstein each posted 4-over 76s.

LSU now has two weeks off to prepare for the final event of the fall season at The Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, which begins on Oct. 27.
