BATON ROUGE – Two LSU women’s golfers, Elise Bradley and Lindsey Gahm, have advanced to play Thursday in the 112th annual North-South Women’s Amateur in Pinehurst, N.C.

Meanwhile in Dupont, Wash., in a battle of Southeastern Conference sophomores LSU’s Carly Ray Goldstein fell in the round of 64 match in the Women’s Amateur Public Links, 3&2.

Bradley and Gahm will be trying to advance through one more round of stroke play to the top 16 where match play will begin in that prestigious event being played on Pinehurst No. 8.

Bradley, the junior from Mandeville, had the better of it Wednesday in the attempt to finish in the top 60 and ties in the field posting a 3-over 74 to post a 36-hole total of 8-over 150, good for 28th place. Gahm, who opened with an even par round of 71, survived a tough three-hole stretch at the end of her front nine (holes 16-18) to get home with 79, also a tie for 8-over 150, good for 28th place as well.

The duo, though, is right near the 16th spot which after 36 holes is at 5-over 147.

Goldstein met fellow sophomore Ji Eun Baik from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and Mississippi State University in her first round match and quickly won the first hole to go 1UP with a birdie on the first hole. But Baik came back to win the second hole with a par and the third hole with a birdie to take the lead for good.

The next three par threes would swing the match in Baik’s favor for good as she won with a birdie and two pars to go 4 UP with four holes to play. Goldstein won the 15th hole to knock it down to 3UP for Baik, but the pair halved the par 5 16th, ending the match and advancing Baik to the round of 32.

Live scoring for the third round of the North-South Amateur Thursday can be found at Pinehurst.com as Gahm and Bradley tee off at 6:39 a.m. CT. Follow LSU women’s golf on Facebook at www.Facebook.com/LSUwomensgolf and on Twitter @LSUwomensgolf.
