Women's Golfers Fare Well on Day 2 at Euro Event

LJUBJANA, Slovenia – It was a good day for all three members of the LSU women's golf team Wednesday in the second round of the European Golf Association's Ladies Amateur Team Championship held at the par 71 Golf and Country Club of Ljubjana.
Caroline Nistrup of Denmark had a 1-under 70 on the day to shoot 3-over 145 for the 36-holes of team qualifying, finishing in a tied for 31st. Madelene Sagstrom, representing Sweden and Caroline Dreher of Austria both had 2-over 73s on the second day. Sagstrom had a 36-hole total of 147, +5 (74-73), for a tie for 49th while Dreher was at +7 149 (76-73) and a tie for 54th.
In the team competition, Sagstrom's Swedish team is right in the thick of things entering match play Thursday after rounds of 354 and 355 for a 1-under 709 total. England is the leader at 703 (352-351) and 7-under par. Finland is third at 717 with France, Spain and Germany rounding out the top six. Switzerland, Italy and Denmark all tied for seventh place.
Austria finished qualifying in 13th place.
In match play, in the medal round there will be two foursome matches and five singles which means some players may play two matches. In the B and C flight matches, the format is one foursome match and four singles matches.
