BATON ROUGE - Another honor was posted for LSU freshman Austin Ernst after her victory last Saturday in the 2011 NCAA Division I Women's Championship when she was named by Golfweek.com as their women's national collegiate golfer of the week.
Ernst won the individual title by three shots, the first freshman since 1989 and the first LSU women's golfer in the 32-year history of the program. Ernst shot a school record for 72 holes of 7-under par 281 with six-under 66s in the second and fourth round.
Also Ernst's ranking in the final Golfweek/Sagarin rankings shot up 20 positions to finish her first year at LSU ranked No. 20 in the country.
Ernst earned first-team All-American honors for her victory.
