BATON ROUGE – LSU freshman Caroline Nistrup continues to move up in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Rankings after her stellar performance this past weekend in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate.
After tying for the individual crown at 2-under par 211 on the par 71 course (71-69-71), Nistrup took second after Duke’s Yu Liu sank a long putt for birdie on the first sudden death hole. The Denmark freshman nearly extended the playoff when her 15-footer to tie lipped out of the hole.
Nistrup has moved up to 13th in the country with a strong 20-13-4 record against the top 25 in the Sagarin rankings and 55-28-6 mark against the top 50.
As a team, the LSU Lady Tigers are now 17th after a strong tie for third place with Oklahoma at the Rucker. LSU is 39-30-2 against the top 50 team in the country, in which 14 took part in the 17-team field this past weekend at Hilton Head, S.C.
Now LSU begins to prepare for the annual home tournament, LSU Tiger Golf Classic, at the University Club in Baton Rouge. The event begins with practice rounds and the college-am on Thursday, March 20 before the 54-hole event begins on Friday, March 21 and runs through March 23. Admission is free for the event.
