PALO ALTO, Calif. - LSU's senior All-America candidate Sang Yi wrapped up his collegiate career with an impressive 3-under par 67 in Saturday's final round at the 2012 NCAA Palo Alto Regional for his 54-hole score of 7-under par 203 to capture seventh place in the event held at the Stanford Golf Course.

The No. 23-ranked Tigers wrapped up the 2011-12 season with a 10th-place finish in the final team race as they posted a team score of 3-over 283 on Saturday and 8-over 848 for the weekend.

Yi cemented his All-America candidacy with a strong performance in his fourth NCAA Regional start for the Tigers as he fired rounds of 4-under par 66 on Thursday, even-par 70 on Friday and 3-under par 67 on Saturday to claim his eighth top-10 finish in a 54-hole tournament during his senior season.

After teeing off from the back nine to start his final round, Yi carded nine-straight pars on his first nine en route to an even-par score of 35 at the turn. He then dipped into red figures at 2-under with an eagle at the par-five first hole before making birdie at the par-five seventh hole for his bogey-free round of 3-under 67 during Saturday's finale at the 2012 NCAA Palo Alto Regional.

This marks the fourth-straight season in which an LSU Tiger has finished in the Top 10 of the leaderboard in NCAA Regional action as Yi joins former Tigers All-Americans John Peterson (2009, 2010, 2011) and Andrew Loupe (2009) as a top-10 finisher in NCAA postseason play.

Already a First-Team All-SEC performer, Yi's performance this weekend dropped his scoring average for the season to 71.55 in 12 tournaments for the fourth-best average by an LSU Tiger since 1982.

Senior Austin Gutgsell, sophomore Andrew Presley and freshman Curtis Thompson each added matching scores of 2-over par 72 to LSU's team total in Saturday's final round en route to their 3-over par 283.

While making his NCAA Regional debut with the Tigers this weekend, Thompson was the team's second best performer behind Yi as he tied for 37th place in the individual standings at 2-over par 212 in 54 holes. Presley tied for 55th place overall at 8-over par 218 in 54 holes of competition, while Gutgsell tied for 74th place in the final standings at the NCAA Palo Alto Regional with his 17-over par 227.

Freshman Stewart Jolly wrapped up the weekend with a 4-under par 74 in the final round as he finished in a tie for 51st place in his first NCAA Regional start with the Tigers at 7-over 217.

The top five teams in the final tournament standings and the low individual not among the top five squads following 54 holes of competition will advance to the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships being held May 29-June 3 at historic Riviera Golf Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

The No. 7-ranked and No. 1-seeded California Golden Bears blew away the competition in the final round as they wrapped up the NCAA Palo Alto Regional team title by six shots with their 11-under par 269 with Saturday's competition. California fired a 54-hole team score of 25-under 815 to take the team title over a 19-under par 821 by No. 14-ranked and No. 3-seeded San Diego State.

No. 6-seeded UAB followed in third place overall with a score of 10-under 830 for the weekend while the No. 8-ranked and No. 2-seeded Stanford Cardinal wrapped up the championship in fourth place overall as they shot 8-under 832 as the tournament host. No. 4-seeded Central Florida was the final NCAA qualifier, as the Golden Knights posted a 54-hole score of 5-under 835 for fifth place.

Pepperdine's Josh Anderson took home the individual title with his tournament score of 14-under 196 and advance to the NCAA Championships as an individual from the NCAA Palo Alto Regional. The weekend featured rounds of 3-under 67, 5-under 65 and 6-under 64 in Anderson's victory.
