CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico – LSU junior Stewart Jolly finished at par or better for the sixth-straight round with his second-straight score of even-par 71 during Monday’s second round of the fourth-annual Querencia Cabo Collegiate to finish the day in a tie for fourth place on the leaderboard in the event being held at Querencia Golf Club.

Jolly ended the day right where he started as he teed off in the second round in a tie for fourth place after opening the tournament with an even-par 71 during Sunday’s opening round.

Jolly finds himself six shots off the pace with just one round to play with his 36-hole score of even-par 142. He has positioned himself for a third top-10 finish in six tournament appearances on the season for the Tigers as he already leads the team with two top-five and two top-10 finishes on what is proving to be an All-American caliber campaign.

The Birmingham, Ala., native entered the week as the No. 39-ranked collegiate player in the country according to Golfweek, and is sure to catapult himself up the rankings with a strong finish in Cabo San Lucas.

Like Jolly, the Tigers finished the day right where they teed off in seventh place overall in the 14-team field after posting a team score of 9-over par 293 for a 36-hole team score of 22-over par 590. They finished off the first round with an opening score of 13-over par 297 to also place seventh in the team standings.

After sharing the first-round lead with tournament host SMU, the Houston Cougars jumped out to a four-shot lead after 36 holes after posting a team round of 1-over par 285 in the second round for a two-day total of 5-over par 573. Baylor followed in second at 9-over 577, while Alabama trailed in third at 10-over 578, Kentucky finished in fourth at 17-over 585 and SMU and Vanderbilt tied for fifth at 18-over 586.

LSU junior Curtis Thompson carded his second-straight round of 3-over par 73 to finish the day in a tie for 14th place on the leaderboard at 4-over par 146 for the championship. Thompson will tee off in the final round a single stroke outside of the Top 10 as he is positioned for his second top-10 finish in as many tournaments to open up the 2014 spring season.

Rounding out the team scoring for the Tigers were sophomore Zach Wright with a score of 2-over 73 to tie for 34th place at 8-over 150 and senior Smylie Kaufman with a 5-over 76 to tie for 53rd place at 12-over 154.

Freshman Eric Ricard also followed his 5-over 76 on Sunday with a 10-over 81 on Monday to wrap up the second round in a tie for 60th place overall at 15-over 157 for the championship.

Houston’s Roman Robledo has fired back-to-back scores of 3-under par 68 to take a three-shot lead after two rounds with a 36-hole score of 6-under par 136. Baylor’s Kyle Jones follows three shots behind in second at 3-under par 139, including the low round of the tournament at 6-under 65 during Monday’s action. Vanderbilt’s Charlie Ewing is five shots back at 1-under par 141 after 36 holes.

The Tigers are paired with Arkansas, SMU and Vanderbilt in Tuesday’s final round as they will play in foursomes on holes Nos. 5-9 with a shotgun start scheduled for 8:30 a.m. CT.
