Manager, Wellness Programs - MD Anderson Cancer Center I grew up in the same neighborhood that Coach Mac lived and mowed his yard through middle and high school. I never met Coach Mac, for his wife always paid me. After high school I was on my way to Southern Mississippi with a partial scholarship to play football, but three days before I was to leave, Coach Mac called and ask if I'd be a manager, I told him I needed a scholarship and he said they had never given a full scholarship to a manager, but he's try me out. So as a freshman I was the head manager. My freshman year I went to the Sugar Bowl, with the team by bus, then we were the first team to play in the Peach Bowl, and then the Orange Bowl. Our senior year, we did not get invited to a bowl, but it was the first time LSU had played Notra Dame. I will never forget that trip and the game - they won by 3 pts. I was at LSU with Burt Jones, Andy Hamilton, and Casanova, but the big athlete on campus was Pete Maravich - it was an exciting time. |

United States Senate I only volunteered for one year and was unable to commit to Jeff Boss when offered a scholarship because of prior school and financial commitments. There is not a day that goes by where I don't think about JB and Stringfellow allowing me the opportunity to prep the helmets, assist the players at practice or get TS ready for gameday. My only regret was not becoming a full-time EM during my tenure at LSU. Jeff Boss was the best mentor/friend anyone could ask for and his passing was a monumental loss to LSU. I'd give anything to see his smiling face when I come to TS for games. Forever LSU!! Geaux Tigers!! |
