BATON ROUGE - LSU head coach Beth Torina has announced the signing of Baylee Corbello, Sahvanna Jaquish, Bailey Landry, Constance Quinn and Kelsee Selman to National Letters of Intent Wednesday to continue their softball careers at LSU.

The quintet represents the states of California, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

"We are thrilled that Baylee, Sahvanna, Bailey, Constance and Kelsee have joined our LSU softball family as our newest class of Tigers," head coach Beth Torina said. "They will fill some much needed positions for us and will continue to grow this program in the right direction.  This is an extremely talented group, and I am confident that they will very quickly make their mark on the LSU softball program."

Corbello [Lake Charles, La.] is a pitcher from Sam Houston High School in Louisiana. She has pitched her high school squad to the 2011 4A State Championship and the 2012 5A State Championship. In both seasons, Corbello was named the State Tournament MVP and Louisiana Sports Writers Association [LSWA] All-State MVP. During 2012, she also added LSWA Miss Softball and the 2012 ESPN Gatorade Player of the Year for Louisiana.

Corbello has maintained a 3.59 GPA in the classroom. She has volunteered with Buddy Ball, a program that organizes T-ball games for physically and intellectually challenged children. Corbello plays travel ball with the Louisiana Patriots.

"I am extremely excited to give one of the best players in the state of Louisiana the opportunity to wear the Purple and Gold and compete for LSU," Torina said. "As talented as Baylee is on the mound, her mental game is what gives her the greatest edge.  She is a fierce competitor and will do whatever it takes to help LSU win."

Jaquish [Highland, Calif.] is a catcher and middle infielder from Redlands East Valley High School in California. She has notched Varsity All-League First-Team honors in her first three seasons highlighted by the Citrus Belt League's (CBL) MVP in 2012. It marked the first time in CBL history that a junior earned the award, and her team has won a pair of California state championships.

Jaquish has won national titles in travel ball with the Corona Angels and Victory based out of Orange, California. She comes from a softball family where her eldest sister, Carissa, played at Notre Dame from 2004-07 and her older sister, Jenna, enters her sophomore season at Monmouth in 2013.

"Sahvanna is a very highly recruited player out of California," Torina said. "She was so highly recruited due to the fact that players like her do not come along very often.  She excels as a catcher but can also compete with the best in the middle infield as well.  She can truly do it all, and she does it with such charisma. I have no doubt that she will be a fan favorite at Tiger Park for many years to come."

Landry [Gonzales, La.] is an outfielder from East Ascension High School in Louisiana. She has secured All-District, All-Metro and All-State honors during all three of her seasons with the Lady Spartans. Her team made the state quarterfinals last season.

Landry has served as her class president during her junior and senior years. She plays travel ball for the Louisiana Patriot Gold.

"Bailey is a talented player that has so many weapons at the plate," Torina said. "She is a fantastic athlete that has a great deal of speed but can also hit for power.  She will give opposing defenses fits as they will try and deal with all of the options she is capable of bringing to our offense."

Quinn [Hattiesburg, Miss.] is an infielder from Oak Grove High School in Mississippi. She became a starter on her high school team as a seventh grader and has secured All-State honors during the 2010 and 2012 seasons in addition to five All-District picks. Quinn also was a Gatorade Player of the Year nominee for the state of Mississippi in 2012.

Quinn has maintained a 3.5 GPA during her high school career. She plays travel ball with the Louisiana VooDoo Fastpitch Organization based out of New Orleans.

"Constance is a great player that will see time in the middle infield," Torina said. "She has amazing on field instincts and makes plays that are worthy of ESPN SportsCenter Top 10. She is an outstanding athlete with tons of speed, power and natural athletic ability."

Selman [Lufkin, Texas] is a pitcher from Hudson High School in Texas. She is coming off a dominant junior campaign where she led her team to the state title en route to TGCA District 18-3A MVP, TGCA All-State First Team, the TSWA 3A Player of the Year and was the MVP of the 3A Texas State Tournament. Selman also came away with the District 18-3A Newcomer of the Year and District 18-3A MVP as a freshman and sophomore, respectively.

On a national level, Selman was one of 16 players to garner National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America First-Team status. She is a multiple TGCA Academic All-District selection and plays travel ball for the Texas Bombers.

"Kelsee is a very special pitcher that will make an immediate impact on our pitching staff and the SEC," Torina said. "She is already so talented, but her work ethic and will to succeed will just help this one continue to get better and better.  She has a deadly combination of speed and movement that will make her extremely successful right away."

LSU brings back 12 letterwinners highlighted by NFCA All-America First-Team hurler Rachele Fico and All-SEC Freshman pick A.J. Andrews. The Tigers also will welcome six newcomers into the fold sparked by Bianka Bell and Ashley Czechner. Bell is the reigning Florida Gatorade Player of the Year, while Czechner pitched Chattanooga State to the 2012 NJCAA National Championship.

LSU opens the 2013 season and plays host to the Tiger Classic from February 8-10. The Tigers will welcome Hampton, North Carolina, Purdue and Tulsa as part of the three-day tournament at Tiger Park.
