OXFORD, Miss. - Jacee Blades checks in with our first edition of "Blogging from the Berm" for the 2013 season as the No. 10 LSU softball hits the road to face Ole Miss Wednesday for a rare non-conference tilt at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
Blades hit safely in all three of her starts and scored two runs which included the game-winning tally during LSU's 1-0 victory over Tulsa at the Tiger Classic.
Wednesday's first pitch is slated for 5 p.m., and a free live audio webcast of the game will be available inside the Geaux Zone on LSUsports.net/live.

"Hey Tiger Fans,
Woo hoo! Today is a day our entire team has been waiting for: no, not just Mardi Gras - it's our first road trip of the 2013 season, and we are ready to "Rule the Road". After a solid and productive morning practice and checking the freshman's bags once or twice, we all hopped onto the bus.
The bus ride is especially full of excitement and energy because of this wonderful Louisiana holiday. We are all covered in masks, joker's hats, colored wigs, and tons and tons of beads for Mardi Gras! All of the Louisiana natives (or as we say, "Louisianimals") have made sure to spread the excitement of our culture on this holiday to all of the rookies on the team. Not only does our school have the best colors around, all we have to do is add a little green to our Purple and Gold apparel to make it festive for today.
We started our commute by watching one of our team favorite movies: "Pitch Perfect". It's definitely a crowd favorite for multiple reasons: one, it was filmed at our University; two, we love to laugh; and three, we're all pretty much professional singers. Okay- maybe I exaggerated that last part, and we should all stick to softball. But...I can possibly foresee another epic video of our team coming one day this season like our "What Makes You Beautiful" video on the way to regionals last year. Everyone knows how much fun and adventurous our team likes to be, and I am sure you will all love to see our new players' hilarious personalities.
After we arrive at our hotel tonight, we plan on getting some sleep and dreaming about our season to come. We got a taste of the Women's College World Series last season, and I know we're coming back harder and stronger this year. We pride ourselves in the fact that NO ONE will outwork us. Since we won't be facing Ole Miss this year for SEC play, we're excited for the chance to play them tomorrow, and we're embracing the chance to compete against a team of this caliber early on.
Until next time Happy Mardi Gras, Rule the Day and as always Geaux Tigers."
