BATON ROUGE - The LSU softball team took part in its annual media training and video shoot in preparation for the upcoming 2013 season.
Dr. Tommy Karam of the E.J. Ourso College of Business met with the Tigers for close to 90 minutes in which he discussed ideas and techniques for the team to follow when conducting interview with member of the media.
The players also were led through mock interviews with Dr. Karam while answering questions they are likely to face during the 2013 season. The Tigers were not only taught media training, but they were instructed in subjects such as media awareness and team branding as a way to cultivate a positive image of the LSU softball program both on and off the field.
All 19 players also participated with the LSU marketing and television departments to shoot video board elements. These items will be seen throughout the season at Tiger Park during the team's introduction and in between half innings.
LSU will welcome six newcomers into the fold sparked by Bianka Bell and Ashley Czechner. Bell is the reigning Florida Gatorade Player of the Year, while Czechner pitched Chattanooga State to the 2012 NJCAA National Championship.
The Tigers open the 2013 season and plays host to the Tiger Classic from February 8-10. The Tigers will welcome Hampton, North Carolina, Purdue and Tulsa as part of the three-day tournament at Tiger Park.
Season tickets can be purchased for $75 at www.LSUtix.net for a marquee home schedule that features 15 games against 2012 NCAA Tournament participants. The Tigers also will welcome defending national champion Alabama along with Kentucky, Missouri and South Carolina for three-game SEC series.
