BATON ROUGE - LSU softball coach Beth Torina, former All-American pitcher Brittany Mack and the USSSA Florida Pride continued its winning ways with a four-game sweep of the Carolina Diamonds last weekend to secure the Ringer Cup trophy awarded to the National Pro Fastpitch regular season champion.

The Pride have compiled an impressive 27-12 record and ripped off victories in 19 of its last 23 games dating back to July 6 when the team played host to a three-game series at Tiger Park.

"I'm extremely proud of everything the USSSA Florida Pride has accomplished up to this point in the season," Torina said. "We started off slowly but have really come together to play some very good softball lately. It is a great accomplishment to win the NPF regular season and the Ringer Cup trophy for our organization in a league with such talent and parody. However, our work has truly just begun as we finish the regular season and head into next week's championship series."

Mack has posted a 5-4 record with a 3.77 ERA in 10 starts during her rookie campaign. She has tossed four complete games and collected 50 strikeouts over her 55.2 innings of work. In her last start versus Carolina, Mack was handed a no decision after being touched up for three runs, two earned, in four-plus frames of action.

The USSSA Florida Pride concludes the regular season with a four-game road series against the Akron Racers.  The 2012 NPF Championship Series is slated for August 23-26 in Rosemont, Ill. hosted by the Chicago Bandits.

The NPF is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. The league, created to give elite female fastpitch players the opportunity to pursue a professional career in their chosen sport, has operated since 1997 under the names of Women's Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL).
