BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU right-hander Aaron Nola was named Wednesday to the 2012 Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-America squad.

Nola, a product of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, is 7-4 this season with a 3.66 ERA in 18 appearances (15 starts). He has worked 83.2 innings, allowing 34 earned runs on 79 hits with seven walks and 83 strikeouts.

Nola was named to the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional All-Tournament Team last weekend after defeating Louisiana-Monroe in a first-round game. Nola pitched eight innings in the contest, limiting the Warhawks to one run on four hits with one walk and a career-high 10 strikeouts.

Nola was voted to the Freshmen All-SEC Team last month by the league's coaches.

LSU has had a player named to a Freshmen All-America team in six of the past seven seasons.
